The Thursday friend / Catherine Cookson.
Summary:
After years of tyranny and loneliness Hannah could no longer bear her stuffy City broker husband Humphrey Drayton. The only relief she had was his absence on a Thursday evening, when he played bridge, and at most weekends, which he told her he spent with elderly relatives. Hannah had taken refuge in her writing, and it was during a visit to a publisher that she met David Craventon, her Thursday friend, who was to become the saviour of her very existence - but would he resolve his own difficulties and offer Hannah the happiness she craved?
